How long has your company been in business?
Our family owned and operated company was founded in the early 1950’s by William W. Dyck who immigrated to Niverville, MB from Russia in 1938 along with his family and 300 beehives! To this day, WM. Dyck & Sons remains a family run company under the ownership and management of  Carl Fast, grandson of Mr. WM. Dyck. His wife, Heather, and their two children, Ryan Fast and Kyla Zacharias also work in various departments within the company. Read our full story here.

What services do you offer?
We are kind of a big deal! Our roots began with beekeeping and chick hatching, but we have grown  from our humble beginnings to a thriving one-stop shop for building materials, including:

• Flooring (5,000 sq. ft. showroom)
• Cabinetry (2,000 sq. ft. showroom)
• Lumber
• Tools + Accessories
• Paint
• Plumbing
• Electrical
• Workwear
• And more!

We deliver and install (flooring and cabinetry) in Winnipeg and surrounding areas, including lake country in Ontario.

Describe your team in 3 words.
Customer-Centric. Experts. Efficient

What is your company’s greatest achievement?
Being able to change and adapt our business model for 3 generations. We started as a small chicken hatchery and have evolved into a contractor supply store…. We look forward to finding out what’s in-store next for our family business!

What are your business goals for the upcoming year?
To help more contractors and home builders grow their business through a relationship based on value, trust, and transparency. With exceptional service, great product selection, competitive contractor pricing, a new Distribution Centre, and marketing opportunities, it’s no wonder many of Manitoba’s top home builders and contractors already choose us as their trusted building material partner!

How long have you been a MHBA member?
We are new members, having joined at the Associate level in June 2023!

Why did you decide to join the MHBA?
To build awareness of our family owned and operated company within the home builder community so potential new partners can discover how we can support their growth plans. We also joined to stay up to date with industry trends and news, to better serve our partners.

What is the best part about being a MHBA member?
We haven’t been members long enough to have fully experienced all the benefits yet. But so far we have found great value in meeting potential partners at the annual meet & greet event. We are optimistic that attending other MHBA events throughout the year will help us build trust and relationships with members, and give us the opportunity to demonstrate how we can help support their business goals.

What is your favourite project that your company has done?
We love supporting the continued growth of our local community in Niverville where many of the new home builds and renovation projects are completed by our partners who source their building materials from us. Our roots run deep here, so it means a lot to see our small town thrive!

What advice would you give to a business just starting out in your industry?
The core of everything you do in the building material industry is directly linked to relationships. For us this means understanding our customers’ business inside-out and being hyper focused on helping them succeed.

Anything else you would like to share about your company?
Our partner’s success is our success – which is why we go above and beyond. For example our Building Material Handlers take the time to ask where our partners would like their flooring placed in the home when it’s delivered. Unlike other flooring companies who dump it in the easiest place, we drop it where it makes the most sense for your crew – saving time and increasing efficiency. That’s just how we roll and one small example of how we take care of our partners.
