This past Thursday, the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association hosted its annual RenoMark Renovation of the Year Awards. These annual awards recognize the best of the best renovation projects undertaken in Manitoba over the past year. This year’s entries were featured in seven different categories: Additions, Kitchens, Bathrooms, Whole House, Outdoor Structures, Exteriors and Basement. Each project nominated for the RenoMark Renovation Awards is a stunning display of what professional renovators can do in terms of updating and upgrading your home.

This year, we featured 49 different projects by 10 outstanding MHBA RenoMark renovators; renovators who follow the highest professional standards in Canada. You can watch the awards video on the MHBA YouTube page and can see all of the nominated projects on our website at www.homebuilders.mb.ca. Our award-winning renovator members are also featured in today right here in the Homes section of the Free Press. These local renovation projects will undoubtedly give you inspiration for your next home renovation project or, at the very least, start you thinking about what you could be doing to upgrade your home.

Projects done by Manitoba renovators have also been recognized as some of the best done in Canada this year. Harwood Design Builders Ltd. from Winnipeg was once again nominated as a finalist for the Canadian Home Builders’ Association’s Awards for Housing Excellence. Having a project recognized as one of the best renovations done in Canada over the past year is a tremendous accomplishment and showcases the great work done by professional renovators right here at home.

Over the past few years, we have all had to spend more time in our homes. This has led to homeowners thinking about changes they could or should make around the house. Everybody has something that they have been longing to improve in their kitchen or bathrooms. Cooking becomes more of a chore in a room that stifles creativity and innovation. An addition is like creating a whole new living space; a whole new lifestyle for your family without the hassles associated with moving. Many of us love our neighbourhood and love our house, but we also need a change. That change can be as simple as updating your colour schemes or home décor styles. Or you may be needing to add greater functionality to your spaces. The renovation projects featured in this year’s Renovation of the Year awards provide a great example of what you can do to make your own home more functional and livable.

If you’re considering a renovation, look to the standards and practices of a professional MHBA RenoMark renovator. The Code of Ethics and tips on what to look for when hiring a renovator can be found at the web site renomark.ca. The Manitoba Home Builders’ Association website is home to great tips, videos and a full listing of our renovator members. You can find all of this information by clicking the “Renovating your home?” button on the MHBA website at www.homebuilders.mb.ca.

When undertaking a major renovation, always insist on the quality, professionalism and knowledge that come with a MHBA RenoMark renovator.
