How long has your company been in business?
We were founded in 1998, so we are going into our 25th year of business

What services do you offer?
We offer the full supply and installation of all flooring types – Carpet, Sheet Vinyl, Vinyl Planking & Tiles, Laminate, Cork, Hardwood, Ceramic/Porcelain Tiles, Natural Stone Tiles, Commercial Flooring

Describe your team in 3 words.

Adaptable, Knowledgeable, Dynamic

How has the pandemic impacted your business and how have you adapted?
The pandemic impacted us in several ways. Global supply chains were greatly affected but our strong relationships with our trade partners increased our ability to secure materials to meet most project deadlines. We strategized on how to smartly house materials in our own warehouse and/or our vendor partner’s warehouse here in Winnipeg to ensure the availability of flooring, flooring setting materials and flooring accessories.  It also impacted how we interacted with our valued clients in and outside of our store. Consultations went virtual and in-home meetings were treated with the upmost care and caution.  Our showroom operated as “appointment only” for a large duration of time during 2020 & 2021 until we felt it was appropriate to open fully.  Lastly, the pandemic had us re-think on how to conduct our business internally with staff members and sub-trades.  Many staff worked from home while others who reported to the office practiced safe work procedures daily.  These added steps/routines in conjunction with time missed due to pandemic reasoning really tested the resolve of our workplace personnel and I feel we came together to overcome all that was thrown our way.

What is your company’s greatest achievement?

Our company’s greatest achievement was our growth during a very difficult 2 year stretch – referring to the pandemic.  We added many new clients and a compliment of new employees ranging from sales and project management to all levels of support staff.  We are excited for the future.

What is your business goal for 2022?
Our goal is to continue providing a high level of service for our client base.  We feel our success and growth was by no means luck and that it is directly linked to the quality of service we provide.  We will be instituting many new internal procedures and continuing to search for good hires in all fields to ensure we can responsibly keep up with our growth and maintain our good standing with our supportive clients.

How long have you been a MHBA member & what type of membership?
We have been an associate member with the MHBA since January 1st, 1990 (23 years).

Why did you decide to join the MHBA?
We decided to join the MHBA for its amazing networking opportunities as well as to support the new home builder industry.  New home builder business is a core part of our business and it’s important for us to be aligned with MHBA to show our commitment to the industry.

What is the best part about being a MHBA member?
The best part of being a MHBA member is the opportunity to be aligned with the local builders and to be a part of an organization that supports our industry. Most recently, we’re thankful the information regarding best practices and helping us navigate through this pandemic with the ever changing rules/guidelines for safe work.  MHBA helped clarify the rules and guidelines and provided us with timely important information.

What is your favourite MHBA event? Why?
My favourite event has to be the Fall Parade of Homes Gala.  It truly serves as rewarding night out for our entire Builder Division staff who work so tirelessly through-out the year and most importantly during the final push before the Fall Parade of Homes.  Anyone reading this article will know exactly what I mean by that and are aware of all the challenges that come with getting a new build show home ready on time.  We can enjoy the company of our colleagues under one roof without “talking shop” and view all the beautiful houses that all the MHBA members have had a part in building.

How has being a MHBA member benefited your business?

Being a MHBA has benefited us by giving our customer base the confidence in knowing they are dealing with a highly reputable company.

What is your favourite project that your company has worked on? Or a favorite service/product you carry?
We have completed far too many exciting projects for me to choose an absolute favourite. That brings me to sharing my favourite service in which we offer.  We thrive on outside-the-box thinkers and love a new challenge.  We enjoy carving new paths and trying things that we have not done before as long as these new ideas are thought through carefully and that the design aesthetic does not impact the performance/longevity of the floorcovering or our workmanship.

What advice would you give to a business just starting in your industry?

My advice to anyone that would like to get into our business is to build a strong dynamic team of likeminded individuals that share the same passion for excellence as yourself. Also to always stay focused on your identity as a company and work within your talents and skills.  We cannot be everything to everybody so find a service that you can excel in and be sure to always do the right thing for your customers.

Anything else you would like to share about your company?

The last thing I would like to share about The Floor Show is that our philosophy will always remain the same.  We feel it’s important to be kind, fair and treat everyone with respect.  This philosophy extends beyond clients and our staff.  We show this same level of commitment to our vendor partners and our competitors.  Our industry is better served with collaboration versus a unilateral approach.
