How long has your company been in business?

R&M Homes started in 2010, and we have been building quality homes for our clients ever since!

What services do you offer?

R&M Homes offers new home builds in Brandon and throughout western Manitoba.  We build a number of homes “on spec” each year, as well as building custom homes for clients who are involved in the process from beginning to end.  Additionally, we complete major renovations for clients who are happy in their space, but want to make it more usable for their families.

How has the pandemic impacted your business and how have you adapted?

R&M Homes has been impacted by the pandemic, much like every other business in the construction industry.  Very early on, we had to change how we communicate and interact with clients, pushing us to more virtual meetings to make selections and home sales.  The benefit to this is that now we can easily connect with clients wherever they are, to lead them through the design process and build their dream home.  Of course, like everyone, we have been impacted by wildly fluctuating prices, as well as supplies and materials that have been, at times, almost impossible to find.   This has impacted how we plan our builds, the speed with which clients have to make some selections and the overall building process.  It’s difficult to maintain consistency when everything that we use in the process is fluctuating significantly but our team have worked hard to continue to build high-quality, affordable homes that meet all of our client’s needs.

What is your company’s greatest achievement?

Building beautiful homes that our clients can be proud of for years to come.  Our teams build spaces where families gather and grow together, as well as being the most significant investment they will make.  We take that very seriously, and our team works with suppliers and tradespeople who can help turn our client’s dreams into a reality.

What us your business goal for 2022?

R&M Homes is very excited to be moving to a new location in Summer of 2022.  We are building a shop, offices and showroom that will be a beautiful space for our team to come to work everyday, as well as showcasing the products and selections that our clients can choose from to build their home.  We are taking everything that the team has learned over the past decade to build a space that will allow our team to do their best work, and our clients to move through the important task of choosing every detail that will go into their home.   It’s going to be a great new space for our company, and tenants and we can’t wait to move in!

How long have you been a MHBA member & what type of membership?

We have been a MHBA since May 2019. We have a Builder, Developer and Renovator membership.

Why did you decide to join the MHBA?

To be part of a larger network of builders and suppliers that can help our business grow and succeed.   We want to ensure that we are always staying on top of the latest trends and meeting the needs of our clients, while building a company that looks after it’s employees – making us a builder and employer of choice.

What is the best part about being a MHBA member?

To grow our company, have a larger network, meet new suppliers, trades, and other businesses in the industry that allows us to get better at what we do.  We want to take everything that we learn from these networks and resources to create a better experience for our clients.

What is your favourite MHBA event? Why?

I’m currently completing the Master Builder Course through the MHBA, and although I’ve been in the industry for years, I’m learning so much!  I’m also making connections with other builders, so that we can share challenges and knowledge that will make the entire industry better, I hope.

How has being an MHBA benefited your business?

Access into a group of “subject matter experts” who we can reach out to for information, resources and insights into problems that we may face.  As we have navigated through the pandemic, it’s become clear that we are not in this alone, and the more that we can learn from others in our industry, the better off we will be!

What is your favourite project (home build, renovation, design etc.) that your company has done?/ or a favourite service/product you carry?

I couldn’t focus on just one project. They all hold a special place inside our organization, and we appreciate the opportunity each one has given us. For every project R&M Homes works, on our customers are not just clients, they become part of the R&M Homes family.

What advice would you give to a business just starting out in your industry?

Surround yourself with positive individuals who have a passion for the industry.
