This past Thursday, the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association hosted its annual RenoMark Renovation of the Year Awards. These annual awards recognize the best of the best renovation projects undertaken in Manitoba over the past year.

This year’s entries were featured in seven different categories — Additions, Kitchens, Bathrooms, Whole House, Outdoor Structures, Exteriors and Basement. Each project nominated for the RenoMark Renovation Awards is a stunning display of what professional renovators can do in terms of updating and upgrading your home.

This year, we featured 94 different projects by 19 outstanding MHBA RenoMark renovators; renovators who follow the highest professional standards in Canada. Our award-winning renovator members are featured in today’s Homes Section of the Winnipeg Free Press. These local renovation projects will undoubtedly give you inspiration for your next home renovation project or, at the very least, start you thinking about what you could be doing to upgrade your home. You can find all of this years’ entries and winners on our Renovation Awards 2024 website page.

This year, four amazing projects by Manitoba renovators were recognized nationally as some of the very best home renovations in Canada. Maric Homes was a Canadian Home Builders’ Association’s National Award finalist in two categories — Best Exterior Renovation and Best Whole Home Renovation $300,001 to $500,000. Harwood Design Builders were also national finalists in the Best Kitchen Renovation under $70,000 and Best Bathroom Renovation categories. It is a tremendous accomplishment to be recognized for our industry’s national awards and it showcases the great work done by professional renovators right here at home. The MHBA is very proud that two of our renovator members have been recognized nationally for their incredible projects.

This continues to be a great time to get that home renovation project underway. Whether it’s something that you have been longing to improve in your kitchen or you have a bathroom that needs updating, Manitobans continue to make record levels of investments into their homes. Many of us love our neighbourhood and love our house, but we also feel that we need change. Maybe the colours and styles are a bit outdated. You may feel that traffic flow and entertaining guests is encumbered by a bevy of walls and rooms and it’s time to open things up. Maybe there’s a reason no one goes down into the basement anymore. Or maybe you need more room for a growing family. An addition is like creating a whole new living space; a whole new lifestyle for your family without the hassles associated with moving.

If you are considering a home renovation, look to the standards and practices of a professional MHBA RenoMark renovator. The Code of Ethics and tips on what to look for when hiring a renovator can be found at the web site www.renomark.ca. The Manitoba Home Builders’ Association website is home to great tips, videos and full listing of our renovator members by visiting homebuilders.mb.ca and clicking the Renovating your home button.

When undertaking a major renovation, always insist on the quality, professionalism and knowledge that come with a MHBA RenoMark renovator.
