Two major residential housing events signal the official start of spring here in Manitoba. The first is the MHBA’s Spring Parade of Homes — which just wrapped up last weekend. The second is the Winnipeg Home and Garden Show.
This year’s show will run April 4-7 at the RBC Convention Centre.
This show is a spring tradition in Winnipeg.
Manitobans traditionally spend more on home renovations per capita than any other province, and ours is one of the only provinces where more money is spent on renovations than new-home construction on a consistent basis.
Last year, Manitobans spent more than $2.5 billion on renovating and maintaining their homes. According to Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation statistics, around 84 per cent of all homes in Winnipeg were built in 1990 or earlier.
Almost 50 per cent of homes in Winnipeg were built before the 1970s. With Winnipeg having one of the oldest housing stocks in Canada, it’s no wonder home renovations are a very big part of our lifestyle.
The Winnipeg Home and Garden Show provides consumers with the chance to visit hundreds of home and garden suppliers, all under one roof.
It is also unique in that it provides a one-stop venue for consumers to see, touch and feel what’s new and exciting in home decor, interior and exterior designs and home improvement ideas.
The Ask a Renovator booth will once again be staffed by professional Manitoba Home Builders’ Association RenoMark renovators, who are available to answer your questions about an upgrade or renovation project you may be planning or dreaming about.
These professional renovators can provide you with a free 15-minute consultation to help steer you in the right direction for a new renovation project — just come to the show and you will be able to pick the brains of some of Manitoba’s finest renovators.
Whether you are a do-it-yourselfer or looking for a professional to help, the Ask a Renovator booth is the perfect starting point for your next renovation project.
No matter how big or small, no matter if you’re committed to or just considering a project, make sure you start your next renovation project off on the right foot with professional advice.
The Winnipeg Home and Garden Show opens on April 4 at noon and continues until 6 p.m on April 7.
Kortney and Dave Wilson from HGTV’s Masters of Flip and Carson Arthur from HGTV’s Green Force and Critical Listing are just a few of the special guest speakers who will be featured on the Blue Moon Furniture main stage throughout the weekend — there is a full slate of presenters throughout the show with plenty of valuable information to share with you.
Your ticket to the show gets you in to see all the entertaining and interesting stage presenters.
Be sure to get your tickets soon, so you don’t miss out on Winnipeg’s signature home and garden event.
